Frequently asked questions

Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market relies on the collective predictions of traders. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those seen here, it could indicate differing opinions on the likely outcome of the match. It’s common to see prediction markets incorporate information more quickly than sportsbooks, especially when new information emerges that isn’t yet fully priced in by bookmakers.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe Macclesfield FC will score first, the higher the price of shares representing that outcome will rise, and vice versa for Anstey Nomads FC. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the traders on Polymarket.

This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The team that scores the first goal in the Macclesfield FC versus Anstey Nomads FC match will determine the winning outcome. The resolution will be based on official match records and verified against credible public sources. Any disputes regarding the outcome will be handled according to Polymarket’s standard procedures, ensuring a fair and transparent resolution process for all traders.

Several factors could influence the price of shares in this market before resolution. Any news regarding team injuries, changes in coaching staff, or unexpected weather conditions could shift trader sentiment. Significant pre-match analysis from sports analysts, or even public opinion expressed on social media, could also play a role. A surprising result in a similar match involving either team could also cause the market to react. Ultimately, any information that alters the perceived probability of either team scoring first has the potential to move this market.
