Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from traditional sportsbook odds due to varying information sources and incentives. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets allow traders to directly assess probabilities. It’s common to find that this market’s probabilities, as expressed through trading volume and price, align with expert analysis and polling data regarding the likely outcome of the Maccabi Tel Aviv vs. Bnei Sakhnin match, but may diverge from initial sportsbook lines.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores, and the price of each share reflects the market’s collective belief about the probability of that score occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price fluctuates based on supply and demand; if many traders believe a particular score is likely, they will bid up the price of shares representing that outcome, and vice versa. This creates a dynamic pricing system driven by informed speculation.
