Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while this market allows traders to directly assess probabilities. If a significant discrepancy exists between this market and sportsbook odds, it could indicate differing opinions on the likely outcome or varying levels of information available to each group. It's also possible that specialized knowledge among traders on Polymarket leads to a more accurate assessment than generally available odds.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares reflects the collective probability assigned to each boxer winning. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the evolving consensus. The market's price is determined solely by supply and demand for shares related to the M25 Tamworth boxing match.
