Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert opinions, while this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities as new information emerges. Discrepancies can arise due to differing levels of information, biases, or simply variations in opinion. It's common to see prediction markets react more quickly to news and developments affecting player form or potential upsets than traditional betting venues.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome.
