Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. It’s common to see this market odds move independently of sportsbook lines as new information emerges or public perception shifts. Discrepancies can create arbitrage opportunities for informed traders who identify mispricings between the two. However, as the event approaches, the odds on Polymarket tend to converge with those found at major sportsbooks.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome.
