Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a particular outcome, they can drive the price in that direction on Polymarket. This can lead to discrepancies between the two, potentially offering arbitrage opportunities for informed bettors. It’s common to see prediction markets outperform traditional forecasts, particularly when complex factors are at play.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of each share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or a central authority setting the odds. This dynamic pricing allows for a real-time assessment of the event's probability.
