Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own analysis and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective predictions of traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between the two, opportunities for arbitrage may arise. However, it's important to note that prediction markets and sportsbooks utilize different mechanisms for determining probabilities, and comparing them directly isn’t always straightforward. It's common to see initial differences that converge as the event approaches.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe an outcome is likely, the higher the share price will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing reflects the aggregated intelligence of the crowd, creating a probabilistic forecast for the Sarreguemines tennis match.
