Typically, prediction market odds reflect a broader range of information and incentives than traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to express their own independent assessments. If sportsbook odds significantly differ from those found here, it could indicate disagreement about the underlying probabilities or differing levels of information available to each group. It's common to see prediction markets outperform traditional odds, especially when there's a lot of public information available and active trading.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd.
