Often, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market represents the collective beliefs of traders. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamic nature of a decentralized market. It’s common to see this market adjust rapidly to news or information that might not be immediately reflected in sportsbook lines, offering a potentially different perspective on the likely outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts accordingly, creating a dynamic and responsive market. The current price reflects the aggregated assessment of all traders on Polymarket regarding the likelihood of each boxer winning the Redbridge boxing match.
