Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to build in a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs about the likely outcome. If a significant number of traders believe a player has a higher chance of winning than sportsbooks suggest, the odds on Polymarket will shift accordingly. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially early in the market’s life, as information and opinions evolve.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust to reflect the collective assessment of the event’s likelihood. This dynamic pricing ensures the market remains responsive to changing conditions and participant sentiment surrounding the Redbridge tennis match.
