Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially offering different insights than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Comparing the odds can be a useful exercise for informed decision-making, but remember that each represents a different way of assessing the probabilities of the fight’s outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or other prediction markets.
