It’s common to see differences between prediction market odds and those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market reflects the collective wisdom—and potential biases—of individual traders. If sportsbook odds suggest a clear favorite, but this market shows a more even split, it could indicate disagreement about the likely outcome or differing assessments of player form. Tracking these discrepancies can be a valuable exercise for informed bettors, but remember that both represent probabilities, not guarantees.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes of the Pleshivtsev vs Dellavedova match, and the price of each share reflects the market's current belief about the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect new information and changing sentiment. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are always up-to-date and responsive to the latest developments surrounding the event.
