Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to make accurate predictions. Discrepancies can arise from differing information, varying levels of expertise among bettors, and the potential for arbitrage opportunities. If you find a significant difference between the odds on Polymarket and those offered by sportsbooks, it may indicate that the market believes the sportsbook is mispricing the probability of a particular outcome.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a specific outcome. As more shares are purchased, the price of those shares increases, reflecting growing confidence. Conversely, selling pressure drives prices down. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring, allowing traders to express their views and profit if their predictions prove correct. This dynamic process ensures that the market price efficiently incorporates new information.
