Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders. Discrepancies can arise from differing information, risk assessments, or simply varying opinions on the likely outcome. If you find a significant difference between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook odds, it might suggest an opportunity for value betting, depending on your own analysis of the event.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in different outcomes. As more shares are traded for a particular outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability.
