Sportsbook odds are typically set by professional oddsmakers, while this market’s odds are determined by supply and demand among individual traders. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially early in the market’s lifecycle, as prediction markets can quickly incorporate new information and adjust probabilities based on a wider range of factors than sportsbooks might initially consider. Examining both can provide a more comprehensive view of potential outcomes.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds continuously adapt to new information and changing sentiment regarding the Dong Ju Kim vs Yan Cheng CHEN match.
