Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbook odds are typically set by professional oddsmakers, while this market’s odds are determined by individuals trading based on their own research and insights. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, especially early in the market’s life cycle, as prediction markets can incorporate information that isn't yet fully reflected in sportsbook lines. Examining these differences can be a valuable exercise for informed bettors.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current implied probability of the top outcome, as determined by trading activity, is 100.0%. This dynamic pricing reflects the evolving expectations of the crowd.
