Generally, prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines to balance their risk and incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs. If a significant number of informed bettors believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, they can express that view by trading on Polymarket. This can lead to odds on Polymarket diverging from those found at sportsbooks, potentially offering value to those who identify discrepancies. It's important to compare these odds to gain a broader perspective.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the prices adjust, providing a dynamic assessment of the fight’s potential result. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or a central authority.
