Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a 'wisdom of the crowd' perspective, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market represents the collective predictions of informed traders. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamic nature of how each venue prices the event. It's possible to find value by comparing the implied probabilities from both sources and identifying situations where the market disagrees with the sportsbook.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the evolving consensus. This creates a dynamic and real-time assessment of the likelihood of each possible result in the Moerani Bouzige vs Jesse Delaney match.
