Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often incorporating information and analysis not immediately captured by traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert opinions, this market allows anyone to trade based on their own insights. Differences can emerge due to varying levels of information, biases, or differing interpretations of the players' form and potential. It's common to see prediction markets move more quickly to incorporate new information than sportsbooks, especially regarding late-breaking news about player condition or strategy.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring.
