Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders on Polymarket, aims to reflect the true probability of an event occurring. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, this market evolves dynamically with new information and differing opinions. Discrepancies can arise due to varying levels of information access, biases, or simply differing interpretations of the same data. It's common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbook predictions over time.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. As more shares are purchased for one outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher perceived probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome. For example, a share priced at 60 means there is a 60% implied probability of that outcome occurring, according to the collective predictions of traders on the platform. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date expectations.

Several factors could influence the price movement of this market before resolution. Any news regarding player form, such as injury reports or recent match results, could significantly shift expectations. Unexpected weather conditions at the match location could also play a role, potentially favoring one player's style of play over another. Furthermore, changes in public sentiment, reflected in social media discussions or expert analysis, can impact trading activity and subsequently, the market price. Major upsets in other related tennis matches could also indirectly affect this market, as traders reassess probabilities based on broader trends.
