Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a player, the odds on Polymarket may move in the opposite direction. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially early in the market’s lifecycle, as information and opinions evolve. Comparing these odds can reveal insights into public sentiment and potential value.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe a particular player will win, the higher the price of shares representing that player. This dynamic pricing adjusts in real-time based on supply and demand, creating a constantly updated forecast for the Rodez tennis match.
