Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders on Polymarket, aims to reflect the true probabilities of each outcome, potentially offering more favorable odds if there's disagreement between the market and sportsbook assessments. It's common to see discrepancies, especially when public perception differs from the implied probabilities calculated by sportsbooks.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome in the Tanagura tennis match. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts to reflect the collective sentiment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a 'yes' share, for example, represents the probability of Yusei Fukuoka winning, while a 'no' share reflects the probability of Ke Hau Hung winning. The market dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand, offering a real-time assessment of the predicted outcome.
