Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those seen here, it might indicate disagreement about the probabilities or differing levels of information available to each group. It’s important to remember that both represent probabilities, but they are derived through different mechanisms.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is driven entirely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket, and represents their aggregated forecast for the Tanaka vs Isomura match.
