Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own research and insights. If there’s a significant discrepancy, it could indicate that the market believes a sportsbook has mispriced the event, or that new information hasn’t yet been fully incorporated into sportsbook lines. It’s common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast outcomes, especially when a large volume of traders participate.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of an event happening. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined entirely by supply and demand, with traders adjusting their positions based on new information and their own analysis of the Janvier vs Jimenez match. This creates a dynamic and responsive pricing system.
