Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring profitability, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to differences, particularly when public sentiment strongly diverges from expert analysis. If a large number of traders believe in an outcome that analysts deem unlikely, this market's odds will reflect that belief. It's common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbooks in accuracy, as they aggregate diverse opinions and incentivize informed trading.
