Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets aim to reflect the true probabilities as assessed by traders. This market may show a different probability for either player winning than what is currently offered by sportsbooks, potentially highlighting discrepancies in public perception or specialized knowledge among traders. It's useful to compare the two to see where the crowd believes the value lies.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts accordingly, creating a dynamic and responsive forecast.
