Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like marketing and risk management into their odds, while this market relies purely on traders' willingness to buy or sell based on their own assessments. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those seen here, it could indicate differing levels of confidence in a particular outcome or access to unique information. However, it's important to remember that both represent probabilities, and neither guarantees the actual result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust predictions accordingly. The current price reflects the collective judgment of all participants trading in this market.
