Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from traditional sportsbook odds due to varying levels of information and incentives. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the outcome. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those seen here, it could indicate disagreement about the probabilities or differing interpretations of available data. It’s important to consider both when forming your own predictions.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a specific outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts as traders exchange shares, reflecting new information and changing sentiment. The more shares purchased for a particular outcome, the higher its price, and thus the greater the implied probability.
