Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often diverging from initial sportsbook odds as more information becomes available and more traders participate. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, while this market relies on individuals freely trading their beliefs. It’s common to see this market’s implied probabilities shift more rapidly than those offered by traditional sportsbooks, especially as the event draws closer and new developments emerge. Examining these differences can provide valuable insights into public perception.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price fluctuates based on supply and demand; if more people believe a particular outcome is likely, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of its participants.

Unexpected weather forecasts impacting the match schedule or court surface could also play a role. Furthermore, major upsets in other related tennis tournaments or shifts in public sentiment based on expert analysis could all contribute to price movements. Monitoring these signals will be crucial for traders looking to capitalize on changing probabilities.
