Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between the two, it might indicate that the market perceives information differently than the sportsbook, or that one venue has more informed traders. It’s important to remember that both represent probabilities, but are derived through different mechanisms and may appeal to different types of bettors.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a specific outcome. As more people buy shares in an outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly translates to an implied probability – a higher price suggests greater confidence in that outcome. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds reflect the most up-to-date collective intelligence of the traders participating.
