Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance their risk and incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by what traders believe will happen. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when there’s strong public sentiment or inside information not yet reflected in sportsbook lines. It's common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbooks in accuracy, as they benefit from the wisdom of the crowd and the incentive to accurately forecast the outcome.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price reflects the collective intelligence of all participants, and is constantly updated based on supply and demand for shares. This dynamic pricing ensures the market remains responsive to new information.

This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Offenbach tennis match between Sven Corbinais and Kim Johannes Niethammer. The platform will verify the result against widely available and trusted sources to ensure accuracy. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome will be paid out according to the final market price at resolution, while those holding shares in the losing outcome will forfeit their investment.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before it resolves. Any news regarding player form, injuries, or changes in playing conditions could significantly shift trader sentiment. Unexpected announcements about the match schedule, or even weather forecasts impacting the playing surface, could also cause movement. Furthermore, large trades by influential market participants can create short-term price fluctuations. Monitoring tennis news and following the activity on Polymarket will provide insights into potential catalysts for price changes.
