Often, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the collective beliefs of traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between the two, it could indicate that the market perceives information differently than the sportsbook, or that one venue has more efficient pricing. It’s important to compare both to form a well-rounded view of the likely outcome of the Monastir tennis match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each player winning. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the evolving consensus. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand for shares on Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or predetermined values.
