Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own modeling and profit margins, while this market is driven by individuals trading based on their own information and analysis. If sportsbook odds significantly disagree with those found here, it might indicate a perceived mispricing, potentially creating an arbitrage opportunity for informed traders. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities of an outcome, and discrepancies can simply reflect differing opinions.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of those trading on the platform.
