Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish initial lines based on their own analysis, aiming to balance action on both sides, while this market’s odds are determined by traders directly expressing their beliefs about the likelihood of each outcome. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook’s odds are inaccurate, they can drive the price on Polymarket in a different direction. It’s common to see discrepancies, particularly when public opinion strongly deviates from the sportsbook’s assessment.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, reflecting a growing expectation of its likelihood. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adjust to incorporate new information and collective sentiment regarding the Klyachkin vs Bastiaansen match.
