Prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders' willingness to buy or sell, theoretically leading to more accurate probabilities. However, sportsbook odds can be influenced by public betting patterns, creating similarities. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges, as traders may react faster than sportsbooks to new developments.
