Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply variations in how each assesses the probability of a particular result. If you find a significant difference between the odds on Polymarket and those offered by sportsbooks, it could signal an opportunity for value betting, depending on your own analysis.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by the collective actions of all traders participating in the market. This dynamic pricing allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust expectations as the event approaches.
