Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their risk and ensure profitability, while this market relies on traders directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. Early on, sportsbook odds may be more influenced by expert analysis and team/fighter statistics, but as the event approaches, prediction market prices can become more accurate, incorporating a wider range of information and potentially identifying mispricings. It's common to see convergence as the event draws nearer, though discrepancies can persist.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the market participants and adjusts in real-time based on new information and changing sentiment. The current volume traded is $1,853.
This market resolves around Oct 20, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Marcus Walters vs Alejandro Turriziani Alvarez match, as declared by the relevant boxing authorities. This includes confirmation of the winner and the method of victory. The platform will then verify the result against these sources to determine which shares will pay out and at what value, based on the final outcome.
