Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically set odds to maximize profit, factoring in a house edge and public perception. This market, however, represents the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. As a result, the odds here may differ from sportsbook lines, potentially offering a more accurate assessment of the true probabilities. Discrepancies can emerge due to differing information sources, risk appetites, or simply variations in how each entity interprets the event’s potential.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, meaning the more people believe a particular outcome will happen, the higher the price of shares representing that outcome will climb.

Unexpected weather forecasts impacting the match schedule or surface conditions could also play a role.
