Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially differing from those set by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market’s prices are driven by supply and demand. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced the outcome, they can express that view by trading on Polymarket. This can lead to odds that diverge from, or converge with, those found at sportsbooks, depending on the information available to both groups. It's important to compare and contrast to form your own informed opinion.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts accordingly, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event’s potential results. The market’s price is solely determined by trading activity on Polymarket and isn't influenced by external factors or other venues.
