Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, however, is driven purely by the collective wisdom of traders, potentially leading to odds that more accurately reflect the true probabilities of each outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources, risk assessments, or simply variations in public opinion. Comparing these odds to those offered by sportsbooks can reveal interesting insights into where the crowd believes value lies.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the price fluctuates, reflecting the evolving consensus. The market’s price is determined by supply and demand – if more people believe Lumsden will win, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa.
This market resolves around Oct 27, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result of the Lumsden vs Tessa match will be used to determine the winning share. Resolution will depend on official results published by the tournament organizers. It’s important to note that the platform relies on publicly available information to verify the outcome, ensuring a transparent and objective resolution process. Traders should monitor official sources for updates as the resolution date approaches.
