Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those found here, it could indicate differing opinions or information available to each group. It's important to remember that both represent probabilities, but are derived through different mechanisms and may appeal to different types of bettors.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more shares purchased for a particular outcome, the higher its price rises, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adjust to incorporate new information and changing sentiment surrounding the Leeman vs Katsuda match.
