Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd. Consequently, you may find discrepancies between the implied probabilities on Polymarket and those offered by sportsbooks. These differences can arise from varying levels of information, differing opinions on player form, or simply the dynamics of how each venue sets its prices. It’s useful to compare both to inform your own assessment.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring.
