Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, incorporating a profit margin, whereas this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs about the outcome. It’s important to remember that both represent probabilities, but are formed through different mechanisms.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. As more shares are traded, the price of those shares adjusts, reflecting the collective assessment of the crowd. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a 'yes' share, for example, indicates the probability that Peter Alam will win the match. The higher the price, the greater the perceived chance of that outcome. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date information available to traders.
