Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market is driven by traders directly expressing their beliefs about the likelihood of each outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or risk assessments. If significant differences emerge, arbitrage opportunities may exist, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both platforms. However, it’s important to note that market efficiency varies, and prediction markets aren’t always more accurate.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the price fluctuates, reflecting the evolving consensus. The market’s depth and volume indicate the level of confidence and activity surrounding each possible result in the Safonov vs Dolzhenkov match.
