Typically, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets aim to represent the true probability of an event occurring, as assessed by traders. It's common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbook odds in accuracy, especially when there's significant public interest and informed trading activity. However, discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions, information access, and market participation. This market’s pricing may differ from those offered elsewhere.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and the implied probability rises. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current top outcome on Polymarket has a probability of 100.0%, reflecting the collective wisdom of the traders participating in this market. The market’s price adjusts dynamically based on supply and demand.
