Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the diverse opinions of many individual traders. If a significant number of informed bettors believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, the prediction market may move in the opposite direction. On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. The market will remain open until the event concludes, allowing traders to adjust their positions based on new information and changing perceptions. The final price of the winning outcome’s shares will determine the payout for those who correctly predicted the result.
