Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders, aims to represent the true probability of an outcome, though discrepancies can still occur due to differing information or risk assessments. It's common to see prediction markets move faster to reflect new information than sportsbooks, as they are more sensitive to changes in sentiment.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and reflects the aggregated predictions of all participants.
This market resolves around Oct 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting.
