Prediction market odds often reflect a different set of information and incentives than traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks may incorporate expert analysis and limit betting based on perceived risk, this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd. This can lead to divergences in probabilities, particularly when public sentiment differs from expert opinion. It's common to see prediction markets react quickly to new information and potentially offer more accurate forecasts, although sportsbooks may offer more competitive pricing on standard bets. Examining both can provide a more comprehensive view.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price fluctuates based on supply and demand; if more people believe Simundza will win, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date collective prediction.
