This set of markets focuses on predicting the point differential between LSU and Kentucky specifically during the second quarter of their college football game. Each market corresponds to different point margins, allowing participants to bet on various possible outcomes for that quarter.
The markets resolve based on the point differential between LSU and Kentucky exclusively during the second quarter of the game scheduled for October 10, 2026. If LSU wins by a margin exceeding the specified threshold—ranging from 2.5 to 10.5 points—the corresponding 'LSU wins by over X points' market resolves to Yes. Conversely, if Kentucky wins by more than the designated margin—ranging from 2.5 to 10.5 points—the relevant 'Kentucky wins by over X points' market resolves to Yes. All markets exclusively consider points scored in the second quarter. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, the markets remain active and resolve according to the official result. Should the game fail to start within this 48-hour window, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants.
Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often aligning closely with sportsbook odds, but with notable differences. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals trading based on their own analysis and information. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamic nature of a continuous market versus a fixed sportsbook line. It's common to see prediction markets react more quickly to new information than traditional sportsbooks.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different point spreads for the second quarter. The price of a contract indicates the probability of that spread occurring. As more people buy contracts for a particular spread, the price increases, reflecting growing confidence in that outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market depth and trading activity influence the price discovery process, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the likely second quarter spread between LSU and Kentucky.
This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the actual second quarter spread of the LSU vs Kentucky football game will be used to determine which contracts pay out. The market will settle to 100 for the winning spread and 0 for all others. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the correct spread will receive a payout, while those holding contracts on incorrect spreads will lose their investment. The final result will be based on official game statistics.
Several signals could significantly move this market before resolution. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the LSU or Kentucky teams would likely have a substantial impact. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if severe weather is expected, could also shift the market. Additionally, late-breaking news about team strategies or coaching decisions could influence trader sentiment. Finally, large volume trades on Kalshi itself, indicating strong conviction from informed traders, can also cause noticeable price movements in this market.
