Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows traders to express their own independent beliefs about the likelihood of each team winning the first half. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamic nature of trading activity. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster than sportsbook odds in response to new information or breaking news related to the teams.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the probability of each team winning the first half. The price of a contract reflects the market’s collective assessment of that outcome’s likelihood – a higher price indicates a greater perceived chance of success. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts as traders react to new information and refine their predictions, creating a real-time assessment of the game’s potential first-half winner.
